Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Medical Surgical Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years MedSurg experience License: Yes (BSN Required) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Ability to read and interpret telemetry - Willingness to take students and potentially precept new travelers Job Description: - Work in a Medical Surgical unit primarily focusing on medical patients with occasional surgical overflow. - Handle cases including respiratory, GI, behavioral health, and more. - Maintain Ratios of 1:5, with occasional 1:6. - No requirement to titrate drips. - Common drips include heparin, PCAs, and morphine. - Collaborate with a Charge Nurse who manages shifts and infrequently handles patients. - Assist with a team including nurse aides/patient care techs (1:8 ratio) and virtual tele techs. - Manage CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment with RT involvement. - Flexible scheduling with a requirement for 5 weekend shifts in a 6-week period. Holiday shifts if needed, but no call or standby requirement. - Possible floating to similar units within the system including the emergency room for patient holds or 1:1 care. - Comply with dress code of any color scrubs, ensuring they are clean and professional. - Participate in a comprehensive orientation program including 3 days of general orientation and 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor. - Note the facility's 50-mile radius rule for candidates' permanent addresses.
